Posting to Instagram

In this article, we will walk through the steps needed to create and schedule a post on Instagram via the Content Calendar.

Instagram‘s popularity skyrocketed in 2015, just five years after they came onto the scene in 2010. Today, over two-thirds of candidates use the platform which serves 1 billion monthly active users. The Content Calendar helps companies schedule content for employer brand posts directly to Instagram.

Step 1: Create your Social Media Account. Click on Social Meda Accounts and under the Instagram section "Add Account". 

Note: For Instagram, there is no authorization of the channel. This is a channel with a name only. See Step 2 below for populating the email address for the post reminder.

Important Note: For Instagram posts make sure to add in the "who should be notified" field a valid email address for the Instagram admin. This is important because the email you receive will have further instructions on how to complete the process. Your post will show up on the calendar after scheduling and an email with instructions on completing this process on the scheduled day and time will be found in your inbox. 

Step 3: Open the email confirmation on your mobile device.

The email confirmation you receive allows you to verify the Instagram account and preview the post once again. To complete the process, you’ll need to access the email from your mobile phone with the Instagram app installed.

* Instagram currently requires our posts to be verified through a mobile device. Content Calendar helps streamline the process of posting to Instagram by allowing you to schedule posts to your calendar and approve them through your mobile device in one sitting.

Step 4: Tap the "Go" button and you’ll be directed to a CareerArc webpage with instructions on how to post your content to your Instagram account. There are slight variations for iPhone and Android.

If you have an iPhone, follow these steps:

• · Long press on the image to save it.
• · Copy your content by tapping in the text field or by tapping the Copy to clipboard button.
• · Tap the Post Now button to open Instagram and start the post.
• · Select the saved image.
• · Follow the normal posting flow until the caption step, then long press and tap Paste to add the content.
• · Once you are ready, tap Share and the post will appear on your Instagram account.

If you have an Android phone, follow these steps:

• · Tap the Open Instagram button to confirm that you’re logged in to the correct account.
• · Come back to this page and copy your content by tapping in the text field or by tapping the Copy to clipboard button.
• · Long press the image, tap Share, and select Instagram Feed from the list.
• · This action will take you back to Instagram. Follow the normal posting flow until the caption step, then long press and tap Paste to add the content.
• · Once you are ready, tap Share and the post will appear on your Instagram account.

Your content is now posted on Instagram!
